I heard from two sources in Las Vegas that New Mexico State junior guard K.C. Ross-Miller would no longer be with the basketball team, at least for the rest of this season.
Another source told me today that Ross-Miller would not be with the Aggies when they travel to Spokane on Tuesday for their Thursday NCAA Tournament game against San Diego State. Ross-Miller was not with the team on Sunday as the Aggies watched the Selection Sunday among fans.
NMSU AD McKinley Boston said Monday that Ross-Miller's season is done as he is not traveling with the team Tuesday nor playing in the NCAA Tournament.
But if you do the math, there are two seniors with four players sitting out this year .Ian Baker has proven that he was up to the task last week, and that was without a full season under his belt.
I think there were other factors if Ross-Miller does not in fact return. But throwing the ball at a Utah Valley player was probably the last time he wears an Aggies uniform. There are a lot of things that happen that never see the light of day. The Utah Valley incident was the last straw perhaps.

I think Baker has proved to be the PG of the future. He's pretty steady with the ball, and he can score. He's only going to get better with experience and confidence.

This is truly a sad scenario for the school and also KCRM. Applaud Boston for "working" on cleaning it up. Now show me a win in the NCAA already!

I think KC was more detrimental to the locker room than all of us ever knew.
Tyrone Watson made a bigger mistake last year and came back from his suspension and was allowed to play.
My guess is that Tyrone was a good locker room guy that made one bad mistake. While KC was a bad locker room guy that wore out his welcome mat.
JG, your "last straw" comment is no doubt right on. KCRM, basically a good kid, almost certainly had other issues that fans are not privy to...too bad for him as he was not disliked by anyone on staff or team in my opinion. I will never forget his key role in beating UTEP and UNM on their home courts this year.
That's really unfortunate news on KC. I hope there is a possibility he is reinstated to the team after the season is over, pending completion of the anger management and other required action. Of course if there are other issues that we don't know about that impacted the decision then we have to assume the powers-that-be are looking at the University and the programs best interest. I can see the cupboard may be stocked with in-coming prospects deserved of their opportunity, its just that we would have our point guard position solidified for years to come with a senior and two sophomores. Of course, who knows if Daniel would have developed into the stud he is today had C. Kobongo not left the program and opened up a spot? This is a young man who made a stupid on-court mistake, hopefully he can recover from this and not end up ruining his college athletic and academic career.
I think that very few of us are able to have a real feel of what goes inside the locker room. I dont think we should be saying that KC was not liked or that he was a bad influence on the locker room. I saw that several players were hoisting his jersey during the celebration and that Mullings referred to him as a "brother". Everyone can make their own assumptions from that. I dont think that throwing the ball at an opponent at the end of the game should really warrant him being kicked off the team. Someone alluded to the fact that Watson was allowed to come back from his incident. KC should too. Things get heated on the court and most of us wont really know that feeling. Compared to other Aggie players who were kicked off the team for other offenses, I think KC has served his time.
Jesus
Jesus,
Very well said, this is a sentiment many Aggie fans share.
I agree. Especially the Watson comparison - it seems awfully weird for the coaching staff/administration to take such a high and mighty stance right now. We need to do right by KC. Hopefully there's a lot we don't know (maybe he himself is not feeling up to the pressure?).
I am with Jesus here...

You all have lost your minds wanting to forget what has happened with the ball throwing issue. This kid put the University in very bad esteem. There have been behavior issues like this for a very long time which affects recruiting and dollars to the school. Give the opportunity to someone who truly wants to earn the right to wear an NMSU uniform. Enough of the undisciplined motto already.
