I'm sure it will be a good game, but it was announced that the Aggies will play at Pacific on Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. on ESPNU.
La. Tech travels to Northeastern on the 20th on ESPN2
Nevada travels to Missouri State.
Wichita State travels to Utah State for a late game on the 20th on ESPN2
While I think Pacific is a good matchup, and a winnable game, it's dissappointing that while ESPNU had editorial comment on all the other WAC matchups, the Aggies got only mentioned during the listing.
It makes me think this game was penciled in before the Aggies' big win on Saturday.
As long as the Aggies win, and don't lose a conference game because of fatigue related to the Pacific game, playing in the bracketbuster is a plus.
It would have been nice to have a better opponent, but hey, it's a game and another chance to impress.
Pacific will be a tough game based on them beating Nevada at home. I think the Aggies can win the game but can't take this team lightly. Don't all WAC teams play bracketbuster games but just some of the games are televised so fatigue shouldn't be an issue. The best thing is we play the games following the 20th at home. I hope all this talk about this game doesn't take away from the focus of having to beat SJSU and La Tech at home and Fresno on the road prior to the 20th.
To be honest, I'm not sure we would have gotten a TV game had we not won on Saturday. That single win took almost 30 points off our RPI, and vaulted us into the top 7 of bracketbuster away schools.
Pacific is a good match up BUT it doesn't give us NAME to beat to give us that boost we need on the resume. Utah State has a very tough challenge with Wichita State. The goofy bracket buster is supposed to help boost the cause for an at large bid and Pacific doesn't do anything to help with this. The Big West is a one team bid conference ONLY because the tournament winner gets to go. If that wasn't the case, they wouldn't get one team in. All I have to say is, we better go win that game. Menzies is awesome and he can pull it off for us.
