NMSU released its women's schedule just now. Here it is. Going to Kansas on Jan. 4 will be a good final tuneup for conference play. The way I read it, it looks like they won't get Wake Forest in the San Diego tournament. Look for a story in Tuesday's paper.

Thanks JG for the good work on the girls hoop schedule. Looks like they will have some good tests. Did you have a chance to talk with Coach Spence about him adding another athletic post player from the San Diego area?

Too bad we won't get Wake Forest in the San Diego classic. The coach there now is Mike Peterson. Mike was the coach here at NMSU for three or four years in the early 90's when they won the Big West and went to the WNIT. Mike is the coach who ran off to TCU, which was a good move, but he ran off in the night and didn't leave on the best of terms with people around here. Anyway, the competition would have been good for our girls but there is no way we can compete with a school from the ACC. The Kansas series will be interesting and challenging for our girls. I applaud coach Spence for looking to play better opponents and test his team. The Big 12 is a huge test no matter what team we play. Teams in the Big 12 and ACC have budgets our teams can only dream about.
Good luck girls.

I assume the comments are from the same person....so I will say that all I know thus far are the Aggies are indeed looking to replace Spanich. I will certainly post more when it becomes available.
