Wendell McKines

As many of you know, Wendell McKines also asked for his release. Coach Menzies said it was tough for Wendell to leave. Apparently McKines asked for his release early in the week after Menzies returned from the Final Four. On the outside looking in like all of us, it's a big loss, but there were apparently some personal family issues that McKines talked about.

He was one of my favorite players on the team and I thought he had a bright future at NMSU, but again, I'm not around the program everyday.

Some have asked about rumors of different recruits, but I have to respect when people tell me things off the record. I will say that the Aggies have recruited worldwide, and there has been talk of a center from Holland, but I honestly don't have a name for that one, which in some ways makes me just as anxious as you are for next Wednesday.

Wow, NMSU looks foolish for ever having hired Theus now.And so do the Kings, for taking Reggie and getting rid of Adelman.
Thanks Sacto, you saved us at least another 3 years of sanctions.

I have to say that I was not expecting Wen to leave after the season that he had. I felt that he was one of the best recruits that we had and that he had a pretty good season. Jones and Luster were expected to leave but not Wen. I dont think however that this will be last name we hear of leaving the program. Hopefully Menzies has a good class this year because we cant afford to lose anymore quality players in the next offseason. I hope that Wen fixes his personal issues and hope to see him back playing ball one day.

Personal issues is a cover up. Face it, the boys are not happy.

Anon 3:58, how is any of this related to Theus? McKines was Menzies kid, not Reggie's.

As somone said on Teddy's blog "Las Cruces we have a problem! This was Menzies lone recruit and he doesn't want to play for him?!"

Love the theories guys. Except it was Big Wen that said it was personal reasons when this was first reported in the San Fransisco Chronicle. There is no cover up, and the reason is legit. Yeesh.

Its all related to Theus. He was the "Quick Fix" guy who only cared about winning games. He didn't care about doing things the "right way" and it is all coming to light now. He was the guy who let Tyrone play all year; remember. His lack of discipline in the life teachings is now catching up to everyone and Menzies is paying the price.

Winning doesn't cure or fix things, it only covers them up for a while.

The program was turned over for a "Quick Fix" and now the program has no heart!

Menzies is a quality guy, a coach who is learning and adjusting but has to clean up after Theus in order to get his program going. He can and will do it. Boston should have had more. control of Theus!

This had nothing to do with Theus. You guys don't know the half of it. The boys hate being there. The new recruits don't even have the grades to enroll. Tyrone had not been proven quilty while playing.

I have been hearing rumors that Pope, and Young are also going to transfer. Can you find out if this is true, but I did hear that NMSU did get a commitment from a 7-foot center from Holland.

I hope we aren't entering our own Richie Mckay era

I gotta tell you people, I am not all that sad to see these players leave. There is some super duper egotism going on on that team. I know the McKines is a MM recruit, but the context of that team was all Theus and Theus is a Big Ego that can handle big egos. I am not so sure Menzies can. Perhaps players from Holland will be a better fit!

It will be interesting to see how things look after Wednesday!

groves; whats going on with the women's hoop coach? is he staying is he leaving? that guy and his team sure gave us several exciting moments and a lot to look forward to. boston will probably try and take advantage of him and pay him peanuts. i saw an article where boise state is raising their women's hoop coach to $180,000 (base) and we beat them two out of three times. i'm curious to know where our coach ranks on the league list of salaries. if he isn't at least at $125(base) he would be 7th or 8th in the league. what a shame. why don't you do an article in the sun news and compare salaries of our coaches, all sports, as it relates to the WAC? if we want to be one of the top mid major programs in the country we better act like it and stop pretending. what do you think?

Jason anything coming out of the PAC as to if anymore players are leaving??

We need to start doing things right. Look at IU and the mess Sampson left there. How about some real student-athletes with character that the community can be proud of?
