Regarding Wendell McKines, he hasn't been cleared to fully practice. My understanding is that he isn't even allowed to dunk. That's how careful they are being about re-injuring the foot. He is allowed to jog up and down, shoot and do some no-contact stuff. But his doctors have not cleared him to practice.
Just wanted to clarify from my post lastnight.

I take it New Mexico State doesn't have access to really good medical resources, therapy or healing...things of that nature. Other players from other universities and NBA teams seem to heal a lot faster with the same type of injuries that NM State players stay out weeks and months for.
Anon 2:11,
Are you privy to exactly how severe Wendell's injury is, how well his recovery is progressing, and/or the quality or level of treatment he is receiving...or do you just make wild-a_s_s statements with no foundation or justification? Maybe you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and became a kind of genius medical savant overnight.
Yeah, I thought so...
2:11- I think your glass is half full! Now the players aren't healing quickly enough from broken feet (Wen)?
You have got to be kidding me with your post!!!
Yes. People are more stupider and fragile in Las Cruces. Yeah, that's it. *insert sarcastic grin here*
Any UNM player would have enough financial support from the state and their administration to be back on the floor from a broken foot in 5 or 6 weeks (jk).
Actually the part of Wen's bone that healed is stronger than the rest of the bone. Doctors always tell you not to practice just to protect them selves from lawsuits. Wendell, go ahead and play 5 or 10 mins in the Idaho game if you want. I'm not a doctor but I did sleep a Holiday Inn Express last nite.
