Joe Boyd, a power forward prospect from Phoenix, is in town for an unofficial visit this weekend and has an offer from NMSU.
Has former NMSU coaches gone to Phoenix? I know former women's coach Darin Spence did. It seems like it would be a large talent pool in the region with players who could contribute once U of A and Arizona State find the top players.
The Aggies have also offered Clovis High point guard John Dawson.

The last PHX area player that I can remember is Charles Gosa. He was a stud... Aaron Brodt might have been from there too.
Makes sense to go after PHX kids due to geographic convenience but I'm not sure how many good players come from that area. Recruiting DFW and Houston kids makes more sense to me.
Prairie View owes NMSU another stud player in return for NDoye. Clearly he's got hustle and quicks to be a great shot blocker down there, or here for that matter. You look at the games #41 Tyrone Nelson played in the WAC tourney in 06 and then in the 3/10/07 victory over USU 'Rone shot 64% from the field for 16 pts and 2 assists. I'd give him another assist for getting Reggie the Sacramento gig as a result. The pizza delivery incident will be remembered but just goes back to points DJ and others made about NCAA rules. You don't want to ruin college hoops with money the way the BCS has messed up football. But I would like to see another solid role player like Nelson come in to round out Menzies squad. I'd like to see Coach going 8 or 9 deep on the bench like last year after Wen got hurt and freshmen like Chile were tossed into the deep end.
Who's he bringing in to replace Durham?

NDoye went to Oklahoma Panhandle State. Not Prairie View. And how did Tyrone Nelson (who was definitely a stud) get brought up in this post? Has nothing to do with recruiting in the PHX area...
They needed a PG for the upcoming year. Menzies may not even be here in two years. So what was it about Jacobs that NMSU didn't like?
I watched both players play multiple years in high school. de Rouen could contribute as a backup at the Division I level assuming he gets qualified. And it's not only NMSU that wasn't interested in Jacobs. He didn't have much interest while de Rouen had at least two Division I offers that I'm aware of.
