Does this sound familiar?

On a previous post, someone asked me what I thought about the situation at Nevada. I think it sounds a lot like the Herb Pope situation last offseason at NMSU. And then I read this Q and A on Parsing the WAC and it made me think back to when I spoke with Herb. The only difference I would say is the two players are vastly different. Herb was a program changing player who was granted his release. Cooke is a role player so I don't understand the difficulty unless there are APR concerns in Reno. Speaking of APR, it's going to be released on May 6. It will be interesting to see if the men's basketball team gets its scholarship back as Boston had hoped.

Where's the NMSU news?!

I would disagree slightly with your characterization of Cooke as a role player. While he doesn't come with the hype of Armon Johnson or Babbitt, he is their second best rebounder, their best 3 point shooter by percentage last year, and a player who can defend every position on the floor with the exception of the 5.

I only bring this up to point out that he won't be easily replaced, and that in my mind, it drops Nevada to a tier below the two Aggie teams in the WAC.

Groves,
What about the news that Jonathan Gibson is on the official list of underclassmen declaring for the NBA Draft??? This is what Justin Hawkins and Elijah Ingram should've done. I doubt he will stay in, but he'll get some great advice from scouts and NBA people on what to work on during his senior season.
