Aggies WAC schedule

A couple other scheduling notes. The Aggies potentially open their home schedule on Nov. 19 against UTEP. I would like to see this every year if possible. The Aggies did it a couple years ago, opening at home with New Mexico. Opening the season at home against a rival is a good way to get the community into the season, hopefully winning. This particular year, UTEP seems beatable, especially early on in the season.

The Aggies also have a home-and-home during the conference slate with Cal-Bakersfield, going to Bakersfield Jan. 2 and hosting Bakersfield Feb. 1.

WAC schedule

Jan. 7 at Louisiana Tech
Jan. 12 vs. Utah State
Jan. 14 vs. Idaho
Jan. 19 at San Jose State
Jan. 21 at Hawaii
Jan. 26 vs. Nevada
Jan. 28 Fresno State
Feb. 4 vs. La. Tech
Feb. 9 at Idaho
Feb. 11 at Utah State
Feb. 18 Bracketbuster
Feb. 23 vs. Hawaii
Feb. 25 vs. San Jose State
March 1 at Fresno State
March 3 at Nevada

and you know there will be the usual D2 schools; enmu, wnmu, ok pan handle and the normal money buy games; texas southern, alcorn st, etc.. that is a typical marvelous menzies schedule. now you know why no one goes to the games. just think how bad it will in another year when fresno, hawaii and nevada join boise st as the schools gone.

I would like to see better competition as well, but it's disingenuous to put all the blame for the schedule on Menzies. We've played multiple SWAC/MEAC/Southland teams every year since 2002, and every year has included one (but not both) of Eastern/Western. Our schedules under Menzies have actually been very solid mid-major schedules, ones that allow the possibility of an at-large bid if we would win some games against good but not great comp like UNM/UTEP. Every mid-major in the country would kill to have 2 home-and-homes prescheduled against the likes of UTEP and UNM.

NM State has played those teams for decades, not just since 2002. Whether they have played every year consecutively I am not sure about...so 2002 may be correct in that regard.

Build it and they will come.

Henson built you a freaking area. If you are any kind of fan of college hoops you'll attend the Aggies games.

we only had one Swac game in '01, thus my comment. RT is correct that they have been common opponents for many years. I can't believe we're grousing about the schedule when we get Arizona at home. When was the last time an Elite 8 school visited the PanAm?
