Aggies get verbal from Oñate's DeRouen

NMSU received a verbal commit from Oñate senior Terrel DeRouen.

DeRouen told me during the season that he wanted to play Division I at some point and was willing to play at a lower level league or go the JC route. DeRouen could have a scholarship his first year, if not, he will be a scholarship player in Year 2.

DeRouen needs to work on his strength and jump shot, but is athletic enough at 6-1 to challenge Daniel Mullings and Renaldo Walters for backup minutes next year behind Hernst Laroche.

I hope he does what he needs to to get playing time. It was great to see Castillo from LCHS these last few years making a contribution.

Okay, Jason, ask the hard question. Has Terrel taken the ACT yet?

The two verbals NMSU received have no star rating. Really? ...come on! We need some studs to come in. Go and recruit the players that decommitted from Tenn, just a thought? Oh yeah, we don't have a coach! My bad!!! Expect the worst, hope for the best. This program needs a cleansing.

With players transfering-leaving, its great that a local players will get a chance at a scholarship.

I remember our recent "5 star-rated" basketball player. A fellow by the name of Pope. What a piece of work. So glad that star moved on to mediocrity at Seton Hall...though he did a lot for his image punching that player in the groin last year during a game.

Would rather have a local on the team rather than big-headed "x-star-rated" louts.

nice, anon 12:51...watching the tournament this year makes me think that with the diluted talent in college these days....would be better to have a coach that gets players who are more cerebral and who share the rock...VCU and Butler and Old Dominion and yes, Utah State...they don't have such athletes but more and more with the one and doners such schools will have a fighting chance because they play team ball....

Of course you need a coach that demands that kind of play on both sides of the court....

Kruger just left UNLV.

Let the Theus rumors begin. His dream job.

If my aggies can't beat the lobos, I sure will root for the Theus Running Rebels to do it.
