NMSU scheduling

New Mexico State has agreed to play in the Great Alaska Shootout next season as an exempt tournament.

The Aggies will open the tournament against Dartmouth with a possible second round game against Murray State.

USC, San Francisco, Alaska-Anchorage and Southern Miss are other potential teams at the tournament.

Sweet! Although it's not anymore, the Great Alaska Shootout was once one of the most prestigious exempt tournaments in college basketball. The winners of this tournament are a who's who of college basketball through the years (Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Louisville, Syracuse, Kentucky). The Aggies also won the GAS in 1992.

Cool. And maybe cold.

I remember back in the early 90's when the Aggies beat Lou Henson's Illinois squad to win the Great Alaskan Shootout.

Good look for the Aggies next year.

Yeah,I remember when the Aggies won games too...but that's ancient history. Welcome to the reality created by Menzies...NM State just lost to N. Coloardo at home...and please don't try to say that N. Colorado is a rising star or some crap like that...Aggie basketball is in a bad state. Menzies needs to go.

It's not good enough.

Yeah, and so are you down on Lou for leaving NM A&T for the Big Ten or Reggie for leaving to go to NBA ... or do you just want to gripe that Menzies can't win?

Guess you missed the Michigan State game last year which, incidentally, was played when it counts and not preseason up near the arctic circle.

My reaction is same as Sam. Sweet gig for the Aggies! Anybody want to rent a van?

At over 3000 miles, it is not a van trip I'd want to make!
