Wendell McKines

Wendell McKines is back. Apparently he's enrolled and going to classes.
He was one of those young guys that I was looking forward to watching as a sophomore. If he works his way back into Menzies good graces, he will add some much needed depth in the frontcourt, at the very least, a fan favorite is back.

Before anyone jumps on Big Wen, I think you should consider his age, and his relationship with his loved ones back home. I'm glad he's coming back, and I welcome him with open arms. He's a beast, and gives us a spark off the bench.

So does this mean he is on the roster for next season? I'm unclear what this means. If true, I think he'll be welcomed back with open arms from the fans (and Menzies should as well.....you can't overlook production for hurt feelings). He's got a "good motor" as Bilas would say, and seems to be a good kid. Just a little homesick. Hopefully he realizes NMSU is a good place for him. This would certainly help with depth for this season, and makes the Aggies look really promising for 2009.

BIG WIN! Favorite player in a long time and I'm VERY stoked he came back.

This is great for NMSU basketball and for Wendell. We don't fully know his reasons for going back home, but I think it's great he's going to give it another try. As the previous posters wrote, he is a fan favorite; and that is because he works hard and "he has a great motor". Welcome back Wendell!

This is a big story. Wendell does a lot of things most players dont do. Plus he tries to dunk every chance he gets. This is a big time young athlete.

Obviously with Wendell we will have huge rebounding presence and some offensive put back points in the paint which will be welcomed back. Hopefully Wendell will work on his free throws as I believe he was less than 50% last season. If he gets his percentage to around 70% and gets a mid range jumper he will be feared even more! He is a year more mature now and these improvements in his game should surface.

Did he give up his scholarship? If so is there an extra one to give him? I agree with the first post. Unlike most students the athletes aren't from the region so you would have to put yourself in their shoes and realize that it's a shell shock your first time away from home, and he probably just needed some personal time. Welcome back! Go Aggies!

I believe they do have a situation with scholarships. Didn't they lose one or two due to APR? Menzies had to have awarded that scholarship to someone else. Look at their roster and do the math. How does that all work out?

Its great that he's back though.

I was seriously considering re-newing my season tickets. It's a no brainer now that Wendell is back!
The season just got better with McKinnes.

Once an Aggie, always an Aggie!

Welcome back! Now, throw it down!

Im glad to see that he's going back to college. at first when i heard that he was leaving NMSU i thought he would come back home and become a noone. i hope that he keeps his head on his shoulder. and see the gift that he have. watching him play HS bball was great. getting the chance to watch a couple of minutes he put in during the ncaa tourney vrs Boise St. was also great. he just have to work harder and stay committed. then maybe...ill see him play in the nba...even if he's a bench warmer. im sure he will make his hometown fans proud of him! GOOOOOO OILERS!
