What are you talking about? This program was perhaps the best thing for him out there. Name a place where you miss half the season and are still the kid that everyone comes out to see. Pope had everything set here to push up his stock in the NBA draft and let it go. A young team with a big future ahead and the spotlight would be on him for as long as he remained here. As far as discipline goes, I'm pretty sure that the kind of life Pope has led so far reflects what his view on discipline is. The team needs to move on now and we should do good as long as chemistry is there.
What do you guys think the best starting five is now with Wen back and herb gone?
I like what anon has to say. Instead of bad mouthing the NMSU program you should look at what good things this program can do for these athletes. NMSU is a very good mid-major program, and with the guidance of coach Menzies he can take us back to the tournament. Here in Cruces all the Aggies have to do is win and the Panamaniacs will be back just like in the early to mid 90's. SO stop being a hater and a fair weather fan. Dave
You beat me to it GS. They could have had some crazy lineups with Herb but I think they will have to be more conventional now, but I think while young, they will still have two of the better guards in Jahmar Young and Jonathan Gibson in the WAC.
I would go Gibson, Young, McKines, Gillenwater, Gabriel
I like both Gibson and McKines off the bench, but I think the most talented lineup has both of them in the first five. You?
Did we not do this in August? You are again ignoring that you do not have a point guard in your starting five. Unless something has happened since last season, neither Young nor Gibson want to play the point. I presume that is why Menzies has brought in a few point guards, the latest being Laroche. You have to have someone to distribute to the scorers. So who would be the designated point guard for now?

Can you really blame the kid? Our program has very little discipline, structure and organization. He can do better.

I'd like to see one of our new PGs getting the starting nod. Then Gibson as SG, JY as a swing man, Gillenwater in the 4, and Gabriel at center.
Good Riddance CANCER!
Seton Hall is the only big time school out east that has an open schollie. I would bet the bank thats where he ends up.
NMSU backed up Pope thru thick and thin.
I hope Pope has to sit out the entire year.
What goes around, comes around!
