Senior night speeches

The angle isn't great and it's far away, but Tyrone Watson and Bandja Sy were recognized on Senior Night Saturday. Watson talks about his career, his ankle injury and his legal situation.

I just want to say thank you to both Banja and Tyrone for all that they did for us the past 4 years. I can't begin to say how disappointed I was in how most of the fans in the Pan Am Saturday left before the Senior's were recognized after the game. There was approximately 7K fans that night and maybe 1K stayed the extra 15-20 minutes after to honor them. It was a Saturday night so the "school night" excuse doesn't hold water. I had to be at work at 7 AM the next morning and had to drive back home to El Paso so why did everyone leave? I have seen on the various blogs how Aggie fans are upset with not being in a conference, having losing programs, etc, but what it also comes down to is lack of support. Fans can't support 2 hard working players that helped win several WAC tournaments and took us to the NCAA's? So because some of our programs having losing records we don't go to games???? Blame coaches or athletic depts all you want, but lack of fan support has a lot to do with it. In other words, fingers can be pointed in several directions.
It wasn't very long ago when we always had JUCO players that would only be here 1 or 2 years so the connection with the players may have been different. Two players (Sy and Watson) that started most of their careers at NMSU and gave their all were not given the common courtesy of a send off they deserved? To the folks that stuck around, thank you. I know that Banja and Tyrone appreciated it. I hope that the Aggie fans that left see the issue here. It all comes down to support folks. No excuse.
