Joyner and Utah State

I know people want to know what is going on with Terrance Joyner so here is the story I wrote. I was chatting with McKinley Boston and he said that the first phone he makes in situations like this is to compliance in terms of the APR implications should a player leave the university. A lot of people talk about kicking Terrance off the team (by the way, there is precedence this season. Remember Johnny Higgins) but it's too early to talk about at this point. I'm sure it will be a topic at Tuesday's Menzies press conference.

For tonight's game, I don't think the loss of Joyner will play that big of a factor into the game considering the aggies played without him for so long anyway. Jonathan Gibson needs to get out of this slump that he's in this weekend if the Aggies have a chance of pulling off an upset in either Reno or Logan. If he doesn't, I think the Aggies return to Cruces trying to fight their way back to .500.

Utah State is a good team with good players and a good coach in a great home court advantage but they aren't invincible by any means. I think Wendell has a better game this time out to cancel Wesley out and perhaps Gibson plays better, but wilkinson is too much inside and Newbold improves on his game in Las Cruces to become the x factor in a Utah State win

We battled on the boards and in the paint but you were right JG. Newbold was the x factor. Aggies did ok for the most part but the better TEAM won the ballgame.

As for Joyner, how stupid can you be? I like Laroche's game and attitude better anyway. I think Laroche is the future of the Aggies at that position. He is steady. We wont miss Joyner much at all.

Joyner will be welcomed back. It's a misdemeanor and yeah, a very stupid one. Phelps puffed his in Germany where it's legal, right? Joyner will have to pay whatever TX's penalty is, and Stefon Jackson still plays ball... Phelps says he learns from his mistakes. Gillenwater had another 4 turnover game, but as I said preseason, it takes some time to learn to anticipate the game like Justin Hawkins could. As your Anon 6:28 blogger indicates, action down low looks more energetic. I like seeing Rahman getting that big body active at the glass. He could only handle 14 mins of that but headed in the right direction.

Anyone who isn't smart enough to leave his stash at home for a two day basketball trip isn't smart enough to play at NMSU.

Cut him loose, AWARD his scholarship to a deserving kid from New Mexico, and don't look back.

Terrance Joyner is a deserving kid. A deserving kid who made a mistake that shouldn't cost him what he has been working and fighting for his entire life. Get off your high horse.
