Women have another recruit on campus

I spoke with Julia Marshall on Saturday, a 5-9 senior shooting guard at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita Kansas. Marshall is making her third official visit, with the other two at WAC rival Boise State and Drake. She said she is also considering a visit to Creighton. I will have a story in Monday's paper.

That's great. Keep up the good work and I hope we land her.

Go Aggies!

Thanks JG. Keep us posted on what our teams are doing. I believe Coach Spence and Coach Menzies are doing a great job.

I can only imagine how difficult it is to recruit to NMSU. I take my hat off to our coaches, in all sports, when it comes to their recruiting efforts. Only a few believe that NMSU coaching positions are good jobs. This is a tough gig. Our facilities are sup-par, our salaries are low, our budgets are low.

Anyway, keep working hard coaches.

Didn't you ever see the move, "Rocky," starring Sylvester Stallone? (learned this line of reasoning from an earlier b-ball post).

Sly didn't need any up-to-par (what's par to you anyway? ...USC in elitist LA-LA land?) facilities or prima donna coaches. Sly just needed Burgess Meredith in his corner and a meat locker packed with sides of beef to 'tenderize' in preparation for the fight of the century. In the end, he literally knocked the snot out of Apollo Creed onto the fans in the front row.

Ask Alcorn State how they found the facilities at NMSU Saturday and just hope a lot of the Aggies Boosters didn't loose too much in the subprime mortgage fallout/Wall Street crash? Because so much of the Aggies success has been funded by the Phillipou Group, I wonder how well the Aggies will do in the wake of the market slowdown and if Las Cruces will continue to be paved over by development?

P.S. - Say, JG.
Since the vote was nearly split on whether men's or women's b-ball program would have more success, how about another vote - this time the men's program *with Herb Pope* versus the women's program? Just for fun!

How dumb were those last two posts? Come on now.
