Women's hoops lands transfer

I spoke with former Texas guard Crystal Boyd, who said she is transferring to NMSU. I will have a story for Saturday's paper on Boyd, who was a McDonalds All-American guard out of Little Rock Arkansas. She received a medical redshirt in 06-07 and will have to sit out another year and be on the court as a senior in 09, but she should add even more skill and depth to the Aggies backcourt. Boyd decided to leave in April, saying that she wanted to contribute more to a team.

Anyone know How many McDonalds All Americans have played at NMSU? Elijah Ingram comes to mind, but is that it?

Coach Spence and the womens team are making a lot of noise!!

It's not very often we get "McDonald's All Americans" at NMSU.
She's here for one year but, I'm sure it will be a very good year for the program!

That is awesome and just another example of why Boston should have locked Coach Spence for a longer term contract.

I look forward to reading the release on this new addition.

If I am correct, that will be the senior year of Hannah Spanich and the junior year of Madi Spence and Day Day Corbett. this program is getting better each year.

Great job Coach Spence, we look forward to more exciting times on the court.

I know our own "local" player - Madi Spence was an alternate to play in the McDonalds all-star game. I also believe Anita Maxwell, the only jersey retired in the Pan Am rafters, was on that list but not sure. Coach Joe McKeon and Coach Make Petersen both had a couple good seasons and some good players, new they had to get out of town quick.

I hope that answers your question.

Coach Spence and his assistants; Joel Washington & Brooke Atkinson, have put together an exciting program. All Aggie fans should be proud of this program. Let's all get behind them next year and bring the enthusiasm/NOISE to the Pan Am.

JG: will their schedule be released some time soon?

The women's basketball program, under the leadership of Coach Spence, is making great progress. Just five years ago the program was searching for direction and stability. Three WAC championship games later, good recruiting classes, an improved schedule and an exciting product on the floor deserves our strong support.

Come on Las Cruces, let's rise up and help the Aggies.

Why aren't you posting my comments JG? I asked a few days ago if you could mention something about a possible recruit, but it didn't show up here. What about the schedule for MBB?

You might want to check the women's basketball roster on the NMSU website. It appears that Hannah Spanich has left the team??????
