Ags No. 22

At least according to this AP Top 25 voter.

"22. New Mexico State cracks the poll here after winning at New Mexico and beating UTEP. A nice road win, winning at the Pit. Next: C. Michigan on Thurs. in the Great Alaska Shootout."

The Aggies haven't received votes since the 2007-08 preseason poll and they ended the previous season receiving votes in the final poll.

Marvin Menzies said after the UTEP game that if his team went to Alaska and went 3-0, perhaps they would receive votes. It happened earlier.

"I'm happy to see that one person was listening," Menzies said. "It's just one of those benchmarks along the way that you would like to achieve. Hopefully we can get more people on board."

Menzies said that OƱate grad Terrel de Rouen could get some minutes on this Alaska trip. He also revealed that he likely won't play Eric Weary in hopes that he can redshirt Weary. Remi Barry is not on the trip as the team left Monday, but Menzies said he would join the team if the suspension is dropped from six games to four or five.

Too early for concern about top 25 rankings...

Pretty sure the community supports the team and always has vigorously since Lou/Barbara built Pan Am and went to Final Four. Paid $8 to see the UTEP slaughter and sat next to Fred Albers. (Courtside? No, he was hanging out in the rafters at the darkened press box.) How'd they look from your seat, JG? Awesome, I'd wager! There were tons of $31 and $23 seats vacant down there while the cheap seats were about full for a rivalry. Students sections were mostly full. Probably what happened was NMSU paid some consulting outfit tens of thousands of dollars to study what the ticket prices should be. That happened when Reggie was around and the Pan Am got new seats, correct?

Aggies will be great and it will sound like a tree falling in the forest, at least live. On the other hand, thanks for providing AggieVision feed of the women's game last night. Community here can barely afford to stay home and watch the games. No offense about being in the 1%, J.G., you bring us great description and insight all the time! FTPA! (fill the Pan Am)

Menzies beating Alford in the Pit and an even better coach in Floyd? He and the AD must be having a good laugh. Happy Thanksgiving, Coach!

$23 for a ticket. What if you want to bring like a couple kids and their buddies. Impossible for most two-income working families. Dr. Boston ought to be proud of the accomplishment but embarrassed to charge that for admission. I've seen football tickets go down to $2 at times and that sport costs a helluva lot more in operating costs.

would the lone person in the poll who voted the Aggies would lose to both UNM and UTEP care to write in and explain the logic? Must not have understood the poll question. Knipp High football rules!

It's good to see that DeRouen might play in AK. He's a mid-major level D1 player and he will help spell guys for 6-10 minutes to keep the guards fresh.

The whole ranking thing is rank!

I am happy to see them beat the other team on rebounds, assists and second chance points...and the final score too!...but what I love above and beyond any of what I have seen in over 10 years is that we finally have a TEAM....who cares what ANYBODY ELSE thinks!

You gotta be kidding me. The Aggies win and all the guy's gonna do is belly ache about ticket prices? You oughta start stand up and sing the Aggie fight song at the top of your lungs. Stop dumping on the AD, Coach and the SID -- and start cheering for them!
