That would be great if NMSU could focus on hoops and join a good conference but bad for individuals like Charlie Johnson who are part of a proud tradition. I'm not saying it should happen but pretty soon the Legislature will have to either cut sports or academics somewhere.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3319260418553490797.post-83477021927932706542011-08-14T16:21:39.943-06:002011-08-14T16:21:39.943-06:00Players who have been walk ons (Kelly Merker, Mahk...Players who have been walk ons (Kelly Merker, Mahktar Diop) have received scholarships in the past. Those players are good students who helped the Aggies raise their APR, and I'm sure NMSU isn't the only school in the country who has done that for APR reasons.Jason Groveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13865320061941648252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3319260418553490797.post-18182067308383368532011-08-14T07:17:08.116-06:002011-08-14T07:17:08.116-06:00Don't understand your remark about walk ons be...Don't understand your remark about walk ons being used to enhance APR. I am quite sure it is only scholarshipped players that count. Walk ons, unless they are given a scholarship, would not effect APR.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3319260418553490797.post-3077606425148335342011-08-13T18:21:04.178-06:002011-08-13T18:21:04.178-06:00Still early 007. I've been a fan of a move to Conference USA, although I've been told UTEP blocks such a move. Personally I don't think NMSU can compete in the Mountain West so I'm not sure how far up they think they could move, but the WAC certainly doesn't seem to offer much in the coming years, especially in basketball and football. Just my take right nowJason Groveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13865320061941648252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3319260418553490797.post-28792659293986147792011-08-13T11:30:12.364-06:002011-08-13T11:30:12.364-06:00Jason,

I was wondering what you felt about the ramifications of these big-time moves on NMSU because they most certainly will be affected one way or the other. Its the domino effect. Hopefully the Big 12 invites some big schools from another conference and that might open up an invite for NMSU because the WAC is getting beat-down for lack of a better word. <br />Thoughts?Aggie007noreply@blogger.com
