Aggies hosting PG recruit

After originally committing to Kentucky and LSU and playing one semester at New Orleans, Dallas area point guard K.C. Ross-Miller will be in Las Cruces this weekend.

Following is an ESPN eval of him. Here is Rivals

January, 2010: K.C. is a power point guard who shows the unique ability to run a team with great leadership and poise. He has great pace and patience for playing the game, and never seems to lose his composure. He has excellent vision of the court, and frequently shows the ability to deliver passes to teammates for easy baskets. Although he did not attempt many, he kept defenders honest from behind the arc with range which led to him getting into the paint to finish with strength. However, this weekend he did not play with the intensity or effort a HM needs to play with. The majority of time he spent coasting on offense and defense with a look like he would much rather be somewhere else. He has the talent level to be a nice piece to the puzzle at that level, but his coaching ability and attitude will remain to be seen.

October, 2009: This guard from Dallas who has gradually moved his way up the rankings did not disappoint this weekend in Atlanta. He is a power PG who shows the unique ability to run a team with great leadership and poise. He is a good on-ball defender who can use his strong compact body to keep opposing guards in front of him. He showed great demeanor on the floor at all times never showing too much or too little emotion on the floor. This is a quality that will help him down the road running a high major team.

September, 2009: Ross-Miller is a good looking prospect that has continued to elevate his status as an outstanding point guard that knows how to run a team. The powerfully built leader is a great push guy that puts a lot of pressure on the defense to get back in transition. He is a creative passer that understands penetration and pitch and is a good post feeder. He is a threat to knock it down from behind the arc and is also tough enough to go attack the big fellas at the rim. He is good at using his strength and quickness to control the ball handler defensively and showed a good knack for playing the passing lanes. At times he got a little loose with his decision making trying to make the high risk play instead of the simple one. He consistently made his free-throws at the end of games which is vital for a successful point guard.

April, 2009: Ross-Miller has a very thick build and a low center of gravity, which makes him very difficult to defend. His quickness allows him to get to the hoop almost at will and his strength allows him to bull his way to the hoop. His strength also helps him to take contact and use his body control to adjust and finish at the tin. He is a shoot-first point guard that will have to improve his play-making skills and get his teammates involved on the offensive end, in addition to improving his shot selection, alleviating his tendency to take difficult, contested shots. Ross-Miller has range that extends out to the 3-point line, but he needs to keep working on his consistency from beyond the 3-point arc.

February, 2009: Ross-Miller is a strong compact lead guard that attacks the rim or knocks down the free throw line jumper in transition. He has a strong handle and rarely gets knocked off the ball. He does a great job dribbling through contact and drawing fouls but at times he struggles breaking intense pressure. He likes to beat his defender with hesitation and behind the back dribble moves then he elevates to score or throws a drop off pass to a cutting teammate. He can knock down open three's with time and space but is still streaky. Ross-Miller has a nice mid range game and he does a great job of moving the ball and directing the offense. He is a decent rebounder and knocks down free throws late in the game. Ross-Miller is a very good athlete; he has good leadership qualities and great upside.

June, 2008: K.C. is a solid player. He is a good point guard prospect because he has a good basketball IQ. He is good at all aspects but great at none. He struggles sometimes to get past opponents into the lane. He is an ok shooter with range to 19 feet. He is a solid ball handler and distributor when motivated. He committed to Kentucky. K.C. is a top 150 player in the 2010 class nationally.

December, 2007: K.C. Ross Miller has been playing on the AAU circuit for a long time and has developed a reputation as being one of the best point guards in the country starting at a young age. He has very good vision, has a good feel for the game and he is a capable scorer. He is physically strong and does well playing against older players. He is very accomplished as a ball handler and really has the ball on a string. Unfortunately for Ross-Miller, it seems like a lot of players are starting to catch up with him on the court. He appears to be done growing and he is not developing as rapidly as others in his class. His ability to beat guys off the dribble needs to improve, as does his jump shot. He also needs to really work on his defense and his desire to keep guys in front of him. He needs to learn to play hard all the time in order for him to be successful at the highest level in college. He certainly has a chance to regain his position as an elite guard in his class, but Ross-Miller will really need to work on his game a lot in the upcoming years to make allow this to occur.

K.C. is a solid player. He is a good point guard prospect because he has a good basketball IQ. He is good at all aspect but great at none. He has recently committed to Kentucky. K.C. is a top 50 player in the 2010 class nationally.

"...K.C. is a power point guard who shows the unique ability to run a team with great leadership and poise..." --- Except he can't stay committed long enough to really know how much poise or leadership he really has.

The Rivals website says he's committed to Florida Inernational?

Seems like a decent player, but he can't make his mind up. Teh clearinghouse issues are related to HS credits, which probably means he bounced around different schools at that level as well.

so whats the real issue with this kid? dig deeper and find out. there is obviously something wrong with him or he would be at one of those bigger schools. he is visiting nmsu because of some issues and he is sliding down the priority list for others. don't try to snow ball us on how great this kid is. come on man. menzies always has about 8 guys taking classes through the branch and hopes they will be around when the next year starts. they never pan out. and we all know marvelous will coach em up and make em better. we also know that if they get in trouble some how, that idiot boston wont care and he can always play here.

Ags already have a CK, so that will be tough on announcers as K.C. subs in and out. Hyphenated last names are cool now, too. Besides a program set in the scorching Chihuahuan desert can't affort to be too picky. Hope he liked the campus and especially Taos cafeteria. If he's been at FL Intnl. then K.C.'s probably seen what Denver brings at you. Gibson held his own in the league listed at 6'-1".
